Andersons Cove Farm

Andersons Cove Farm is a privately owned estate just 90 minutes’ drive from Auckland. Our hobby farm runs some black sheep, white sheep, highland cattle and goats. Not only useful for keeping the grass down, our animals are selected for their good looks and placid natures. We have happy hens laying free-range eggs for your breakfast, and we maintain beautiful stands of native bush, a fragrant citrus grove, fruit orchard, walk-in berry house, and picturesque gardens. We even produce our own olive oil.

Andersons Cove Farm is one of only two properties with riparian rights and access to the 700m of white sandy beach of Andersons Cove, which offers all-tide swimming and fishing.

The owners, who live here permanently in their beach-front lodge, decided this slice of paradise was too good not to share, so created The Potting Shed and Clifftops Lodge to offer both the ultimate in luxury and seclusion and also unparalleled privacy.

Unparalleled Privacy

As the only public access to our beach is an arduous scramble around the rocks from Langs Beach, or arrival by sea, the beach is peaceful, unspoilt and very private. The property itself is protected by security gates and the accommodations are not visible from the main road, 3 km down our driveway, making it a superb A-lister retreat.

Both properties are self-check-in, meaning you need not see any of our staff during your stay. Even our daily housekeeping service to replenish your mini-bar and breakfast ingredients is completely optional. (Or we can make a time when you plan on being out or enjoying the beach.)

In fact the common areas of beach, tennis court, petanque pitch and vegetable patch are probably the only places where you may encounter other people. So if you stay wrapped up in the luxury of your accommodation and surrounds, you may believe you are the only people left on Earth.

The Potting Shed

Built in 2010, The Potting Shed was conceived as an art studio and quiet place for meditation and unwinding amongst the beautiful gardens.

In 2020 it was then decided that it was time for The Potting Shed to be repurposed to create an incredibly special retreat for others to enjoy, with a kitchen, bathroom, and hot tub added, among other amenities.

Set on the edge of native bush just below the working farm paddocks, The Potting Shed is completely private, being hidden from the view of any other building, far from any man-made noise, enhancing the peace and quiet.

The Potting Shed comes complete with everything you need to truly enjoy your stay. From a fully equipped Miele kitchen, Nespresso machine with capsules, Weber BBQ, an open fire to curl up beside on those cool winter evenings, and a sumptuous en-suite. Just outside the bedroom is the hot tub set at a relaxing 38°C for you to enjoy, morning and night. A golf cart is also provided for you to explore the property and travel easily to the beach.

Clifftops

The Clifftops tented lodge was inspired by owners’ African safari when they stayed at super camps such as Governors and Treetops. The grassy knoll and the view over Bream Bay was the ideal place to construct a luxe lodge which could be themed with a nod to the romantic safari era.

Nobody in Australasia had gone to the extreme level of comfort and décor that the owners demanded. The huge deck incorporating several seating areas and a hot tub has room for outside clifftop dining, while the hidden bath is a treasure.

Being off grid was a complimentary adjunct to the naturally harvested water supply. Unlimited satellite WiFi and complete privacy, together with the electric golf cart for beach expeditions, complete the package.
